Legally requiredLegally required for anyone working on gas appliances in the UK. Not a badge of quality, a badge of legality: an unregistered gas fitter is committing an offence.
Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering
The professional body for plumbing and heating. Individual membership, so it follows the engineer rather than the company.
TrustMark registered
The only government-endorsed quality scheme for work in and around the home. Covers trading standards as well as technical competence.

Is the heat pump grant still available?
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant is paid to your installer, who deducts it from the quote. The installer must be MCS certified for it to apply, so confirm that before signing anything.
